Increase Your Business with Keder Roof

APAC Keder roofs are available with 40cm, 70cm, 78cm and 133cm beam options installed in single-pitch, double-pitch or arch configurations, multi-purpose weatherproofing for roofs and scaffolding.

The distance between trusses is 2.57m, 3.07m, or 7′ (2.1m), 10′ (3.05m) for all scaffolding systems, or you can customize the truss distance to fit your scaffolding span.

The surface of the APAC keder roof consists of a high quality PVC tarpaulin and Keder rails to form a waterproof covering. It is a non-insulating, rainproof cover under which uncontrolled condensation and dripping may form, depending on the weather.

APAC Keder roofs are available in widths up to 18 m and can be installed without a crane. For spans over 18 m, further structural design is necessary.

APAC’s special Keder roof support provides the highest possible versatility for all assembly variants and compensates for any tolerances due to the lower pad surface.Snow loading for APAC Keder roof is possible but needs to be specified and designed separately.

The unique structure of the APAC keder roof is designed in such a way that only every fifth interval needs to be completely supported with wind braces.

As a result, fewer Keder roof ledgers are required in the intermediate bays. The insertion of connections or snap-on claws at the individual components ensures very short assembly times.

Frequently Asked Questions

Kedar roof is a roofing system that you can use for temporary uses. The components of the kedar roof are manufactured from aluminium, which gives them a lightweight property. This gives you the advantage of a highly portable feature with the keder roof.

Moreover, the connection system of the keder roof is designed with an adaptive and flexible pattern. So, you can quickly and easily assemble them in different ways for your temporary roofing solutions. Once you are done, you can again dismantle them easily and set them up elsewhere.

Typical Keder Roof

The components of the keder roof system are:

  • Lattice/unit beam:The lattice beam is the main part of the roof truss section. You have to connect the lattice beam between the ridge section and the eaves section. The length of the lattice beam will depend on the size of the span.
Another essential feature of the lattice beam is the keder rail. The keder rails are bulged out shapes so that you can get enough space to pass thin components like rope or wire into them. So, you can easily add the roof cover fabric with the keder frame. There are two types of lattice beams.
    • Lattice beam for double-pitched roof: The spigots in the lattice beams for the double-pitched roof are situated at the two final ends.

Lattice Beam For Double-pitched Keder Roof

Figure 2 – Lattice Beam For Double-pitched Keder Roof

    • Lattice beam for mono-pitched roof:The spigots in the lattice beams for the double-pitched roof are situated on both sides of each truss section since you only need them for the spacer.

Lattice Beam For Mono-Pitched Keder Roof

Figure 3 – Lattice Beam For Mono-Pitched Keder Roof

  • Ridge beam:You need the ridge sections only for double-pitched keder roofs. Here it connects the two lattice beams from two sides and forms a slope by creating an angle in the middle portion. For a single-pitched keder roof, you don’t need a ridge section as you have to use a single, long section of lattice beam.

Figure 4 - Ridge BeamFigure 4 – Ridge Beam

  • Eaves section:The eaves section is the edge portion of the keder roof truss. The top member of the eaves section has a sloped edge to direct the keder fabric downwards to finish the edge portion. If you want to connect the roof cover fabric with a wall, the eaves section can direct it following the pattern.
  • Ledger:You have to install the ledger section between two neighbouring trusses. So, they act as a member to brace the framing system.
  • Diagonal brace:You have to install the diagonal braces between the top end of the vertical post and the bottom, opposite side of the vertical post.

Figure 5 - Diagonal BraceFigure 5 – Diagonal Brace

  • Stiffener:The stiffener acts as the framework supporting members to provide lateral stability.
  • Roof covering sheet:The roof covering sheet is the main component in the keder roof that makes the top roofing. The sheet is normally manufactured from materials with weather protective properties. You can install the roof covering sheet on top of the lattice beam to cover the entire frame.
  • Support:You can connect the support system with the supporting part of the beam, connector and scaffolds with open ends.

The mono-pitched roof has a single flat surface, and the double-pitched roof has two surfaces connected with an angle between them for the slope. Consider several factors to decide whether you want to install a mono-pitched or double-pitched roof:

  • Initial cost and overall cost-effectiveness:The mono-pitched roofs are cheaper for first-time investments than the double-pitched keder roofs. But the overall cost-effectiveness is profitable with a double-pitched keder roof.
  • Time of assembly:The structure of the mono-pitched roof is very simple. So, you need to work with fewer components to assemble the mono-pitch keder roofs, which will take less time to set up. Comparatively, the structure of the double-pitched roof is slightly complicated. So, you need to work with more components to assemble them, taking more time to set up.
  • Support strength:The double-pitched keder roofs can offer you more strength compared to the mono-pitch keder roof. Choose the type based on the strength that you are looking for.
  • Durability of roof covering fabric:The roof covering fabrics on the mono-pitched keder roof undergo high abuse from vertical weathering components like snow or rain. In the double-pitched keder roof, they contact at an angle, reducing the impact. So, the covering can offer you more durability in the long run.
  • Interior spacing:With the double-pitched keder roof you can get more interior spacing. So, they can help you in terms of material storage, more tooling and working space, etc.

The keder roof can offer you numerous benefits for temporary roofing solutions. Some of the common benefits are:

  • The components of the keder roof are manufactured from aluminium, which makes them extremely lightweight. So, you can easily transport them to the location where you want to assemble them.
  • Keder roofs are highly durable due to the material properties of the components. So, you can use them for a long time.
  • The connection procedure between the keder roof components is designed so that you don’t need additional tools. So, you can quickly and easily assemble them during installation. You can also quickly dismantle them for use in other areas.
  • Keder roofs are a cost-effective approach for your site’s temporary roofing solutions.
  • Keder roofs will offer you high adaptability and versatility. So, you can use them for various application scopes.

Pro-tips: For installing only the large-sized keder roof (XL), and above certain heights (18m) the crane is mandatory. Below that, you can easily manage to install the keder roof with manual support.

Typically you can use PVC tarpaulin for the keder roof covering. They can offer you heavy-duty protection against extreme weather conditions. They have heat-resistant and UV-stabilising properties, which will offer you great advantages. You can use tarpaulins for both the gable part and the top roof covering.Figure 6 – PVC Tarpaulin Fabric Used For Keder Roof Covering

The keder roofing system has two types of components, the framing part and the covering part. The keder roof frames are manufactured from aluminium, which is extremely resistant to corrosion. So, they are highly durable, and you can use them for a long time.

The covering part is made from PVC tarpaulin, which is also a highly durable material. So, as a combination, the total keder roofing systems are highly durable.

With the Keder roof system, APAC can brace light, standard, or heavy-duty roofs. The Keder roof is available in widths up to 18 m and can be installed without the use of a crane.
Depending on the static system and load, an unsupported roof span can exceed 26m.
As building structures become larger, APAC is setting higher spans for temporary roofing on construction sites or stages. Likewise, the new ones retain many of the advantages of the Keder Roof System, including its weight, versatility, and ease of installation.
As long as it assumes the requirements of local weather conditions, a 40-meter span is possible!
